CX - Combi Boilers
A Combination Boiler provides on-demand hot water with no need for a hot water cylinder. It also provides heat to your central heating. There's no need for a hot water cylinder in this instance. This type of boiler is best suited to small households with one bathroom.
HX - Open-vented Boilers
An Open Vent Boiler, sometimes called a heating-only boiler, gives you central heating only. Your hot water comes from a hot water cylinder, stored in your airing cupboard, or other location in your house. This system is only recommended where you already have pipework for an open vent boiler.
SX - System Boilers
A System Boiler, sometimes called a sealed system boiler, gives you central heating and also heats your water that you store in a hot water cylinder, usually in an airing cupboard. This type of boiler is suited to larger households, usually with more than one bathroom or en-suite.
